Re: Im upgrading and i need advice.
Hey man, it is not anargument, the statistics are right there.  And I have seen all of these cards in operation.  The 8800 GT outperforms the 8600 (GS, GT, GX, etc.)  I am trying to help you, the 8600 is not an upgrade over the 8800; period.
According to Tom's Guide, the 8600 GTS (the best 8600) gets 2758 3dmarks, the 8800 GT 512 however gets 6023.
That is more than TWICE as many marks.
I mean it is plain as day that the 8800 GT whoops the 8600.  But aside from that you can get the ATI 4850 and outperform them both for a reasonable price.
But you might want to look at these:

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/d...%2C1564%2C1584
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/d...%2C1564%2C1584
And there are hundreds more. NOWHERE do I see the 8600 outperforming or even coming close to the 8800 GT. Even when the 8600 is in SLI mode it does not come close.
Do the research.
Can you show me some information that says the 8600 outperforms or even equals the 8800 GT?
Because if I am wrong, then so are most of the experts whose material I have read.
In the end it is your money to spend.  I was simply trying to point you to a better deal.  Your statement that the 8600 (of any type) is eqaul to or outperforms an 8800 GT is completely false.

Funny how you ask for advice, then when two people tell you it is not good you basically tell them to shove off. Do you want advice, or do you just want to tell everyone what you are getting, so we can say told you so when you post in a few weeks that it is a POS? While it may be better than the old card it nowhere near compares to the 8800 GT you have in the Dell, end of story.
