The motherboard I have is made by BFGtech.

Re: What is the best way to get rid of artifacting?
I searched where I could for detailed instructions for the BFG brand Mobo's, and hit a dead end.
Even BFG's site has nothing helpful to say. That is odd, in my opinion.
The closest I could find was flashing the Award BIOS in a BFG 680 Mobo, which is newer than the nF4 you have.
Now... I cannot 100% say this will work for you, and I'm sorry after all the patience you showed in answering my questions, but this seems to work on newer (680) chipsets:
**(It also allows you to do this from Windows, which may be helpful, maybe not...)**
============
First download this:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/downlo...datecenter.exe
It allows you to update your bios from Windows via your nVidia control panel.
***Since you already have 6.86 BIOS, use it, instead of update below, which is not for your chipset***
Then download your bios update here:
http://www.bfgtech.com/CMDocs/BFGTec...BIOS%20P31.zip
Extract all
In nVidia Control Panel:
Under system update tab, go to manage your bios.
# Once Update Center opens, Check the box “Clear CMOS” and then hit apply at the bottom right hand corner
# Now select browse and locate *.bin file
# Select load bios
# After update center finishes, completely shutdown your system
# Once the system is off, unplug your PSU and press the power button on the front of your case. (This will discharge the Motherboard.)
# Wait 30-60 seconds to turn on or plug in your PSU and start up your system
# Press "Delete" to once again enter the BIOS, and load defaults. Save and exit; your system BIOS is now updated.

What little I found was a manual for the BFG VNF4 Mobo here: (which was not helpful either)
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache...nk&cd=31&gl=us
Where it mentions a "Boot-Block Flash ROM
- Award system BIOS support PnP, APM, DMI, ACPI, & Multi-device booting "
Check in BIOS and see if you can create a backup before continuing with update.
Do so, if you can.
I've never flashed a BIOS from inside Windows, usually just unzip it to floppy, and enter BIOS and choose update then point to floppy. If in doubt, call BFG and get their opinion.

Although having up to date drivers and BIOS is *always* a good idea.
Good luck!

Re: What is the best way to get rid of artifacting?
I had a problem with white flickering a while back with my 7800 GT. i had had that card for a few years though, and dust built up and caked it self on the actual heatsink of the GPU(under the plastic cover) to the point where it blocked ALL airflow from moving across the heatsink and thus, over heating.
I took off the plastic cover(that sits over the heatsink on your GPU) and blew out all the dust and it was fine.
