DFI vs. Asus
decided to go with this DFI LANPARTY DK X38-T2RB LGA 775 Intel X38 motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136051
instead of an ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131219
it wasn't really for the price difference. just felt like giving DFI a chance since my last motherboard was Asus and I didn't like it too much. don't plan on doing any overclocking but will probably check to see how easy it is with this mb. it wasn't really a logical choice. just spur of the moment kinda thing.
anyone have experience with this DFI board? what can i expect? should i start asking for an RMA right now?

Gigabyte is solid. I have owned some Gigabyte parts and they were high quality and did not let me down.
DFI, I dont know much about it, but it has a good reputation
In GPU land, I love me some eVGA, but I can say nothing about their Mobos as I have never read a review of one or seen one in operation.
ECS, AS-Rock, Jetway, etc = shit.
Personally, I always do Asus, my last 6 gaming Mobos have been Asus and there was nothing wrong with any of them. I upgraded for compatibility or more goodies, not due to problems. They make high quality products, and they stay on top of driver updates (which is critical IMO).
If you review my history here in the HW forum I have almost invariably recommended Asus solutions for motherboards and I will do so now.

All I am saying is Asus has a much lower failure rate; and a price to match usually. ECS is cheaper by a longshot.

Re: DFI vs. Asus
update on the DFI board:
one of the sata cables turned out to be defective on delivery. it was really flimsy. the rest of the motherboard had that same cheap feel to it.
it came with this tall northbridge heat sink that you're supposed to attach a fan to (fan not included). it had metal wire clips that you know will vibrate and make a lot of noise.
also found out from a different forum that they actually color things copper even tho it's not copper. found that to be really cheesy thing to do.
already got an RMA and getting this puppy instead. it's even ddr3 compatible. possibly stupid question: the ddr2 i just bought should work on this right?

hopefully, this lesson will only cost me $10 in shipping.
thx for all the input!

Wow, that is a slick mobo. Nice pick!
Here is Asus' product page for this mobo: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...72&modelmenu=1
And yes, it should support DDR2 just fine.
Good luck!
