Re: Who is a motherboard EXPERT for high performance, oc'ing MOTHERBOARDS!!!

The only Mobos that support SLI are Nvidia chipset based motherboards; save one: the Intel SkullTrail which supports SLI and Crossfire. But I dont think it is actually released to the public yet.

ATI liscensed their crossfire technology to Intel allowing them to make Crossfire compatible mobos, however, nVidia actually got into a bit of a dispute with Intel because they will not liscense their SLI technology.

Thus, the X48 is NOT an SLI chipset. It may support Dual x16 lanes, but Crossfire likes that too!

Re: Who is a motherboard EXPERT for high performance, oc'ing MOTHERBOARDS!!!

Ok i myself have ran The Asus striker 2 extreme 780i, and had to have 2 mobos rmaed after just a few weeks. Still waiting on it to show up right now. But im running the Evga 790i right now. As far as over clocking, Asus or Evga is best for nvidia. BUT, an X48 mobo is the way i wish i had went with to start. You can get 4 cards on a x48. you can run 2 4870 x2 and 2 4850 cards on 1 board in Xfire. And at the price of nivdia cards right now, Ati is the way to go. If you play steam based games its truely the best way to go. Jason will explain the rest on Ati. He sould be a sales man for ATI. As far as nvidia mobo, go 790i Asus extreme or Evga 790i ultimate. Right this minute Evga ultimate is top shelf. VERY user friendly. Over clockers dream. If you can afford an extreme cpu thats the best way to go on any board. And also to add, on the memory you buy it as 7 7 7 20, but will end up at voltage settings at 9 9 9 24. thats for the 1600. or atleast mine did. And on the 8 gigs, I did 8 to start with. and i run 64 ultimate, hell i never used close to 4 gigs. waste of money. 4, 1 gigs sticks is the way to go, lower latancy and tends to run faster also. My 3d mark score in my sig was the asus 780i on 2, 2gig 1066.
    AND YOU ARE "WHO" AGAIN!!!!?

    Ok
    P5E3 Premium/WiFi-AP @n DDR3

    or

    Rampage Formula DDR2

What is the big deal over ddr2 and ddr3?
At the moment not a lot. The only difference right now between the two is the numbers on paper saying how fast they go. In game you will not be able to tell. Also the price on fast 1066 ddr2 ram and up is really cheap at the moment. You spend a little less on the ram and put the rest of your funds in to the GPU or CPU because that is where it counts.

You want ultra fast ATI/Intel setup?
