    More computer problem(s)

Tonight before dinner I was on FireFox, browsing the forums - checking FaceBook, etc.

I finished up, closed FireFox and ate dinner - put my daughter to bed and came and started watching Monday Night Football.

My wife walks in and says "That's weird, its like FireFox uninstalled itself, its saying that the file or path has been changed, etc etc..."

"Software doesnt just uninstall itself, what did you do?"

"Nothing, I just sat down and clicked the FireFox button like normal."

I go to investigate and she's right...FireFox will not start and its talking like it is no longer installed and the shortcut leads to nowhere. I think..."Well, a reboot might fix it...I'll give that a quick try."

    Nada.

Reboot, beep, post, it slowly runs thru the bios routine, flashes to where it runs down the IRQ addresses and it freezes there and eventually says "Disc Read Error Occured, ctr-alt-del to reboot".

My first thought is that it's a hard drive.

Is that logical? That's what I'm gonna try tomorrow - get a new HDD and see what happens.

Assuming that nothing happens when I get a new HDD, what would your second guess be?

This is just really shitty timing since my car died today and is currently at the shop thanks to a tow truck...oh, and did I mention I have a baby due in 2 weeks.

    Awesome.

It more than likely sounds like a HDD problem. Maybe check to see if your connection between the HDD to the MoBo is secure before going out to buy a new one.

picked up a new drive this morning - reinstalled Windows and everything appears to be normal.

Doing the driver-update/Steam-download thing as we speak.

Check and see if your drive has a warranty. If it does, RMA that baby. The new one will be bigger.
