hl2.exe problem **PLEASE HELP**
alright, ive been having this problem for sometime now. Whenever i try and play Counter-Strike: Source, it says its loading but never does. Ive gone to the ALT + CTRL + DELETE Task Manager and tryed to open CS:S, saw hl2.exe pop-up, then go away instantly.
i have reinstalled Steam and CS:S about 5 times now and it still doesnt work. I have verifyed the files each time as well. I have teammates, a clan, and a community depending on me. Im an admin on another server and they need me ASAP.
Please help me. I miss TTP

Re: hl2.exe problem **PLEASE HELP**
if his idea doesnt work...its probably something in the registry. Download a registry cleaner...i use EasyCleaner and it works like a charm. http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm

Re: hl2.exe problem **PLEASE HELP**
And if my suggestion DOES work, that's all I was ever able to do to fix the problem...Eventually the HDD I was using at the time crapped out and I am now on a new HDD with no issues. I'm not saying its a hardware problem per-say, but that was my situation.
I too installed, reinstalled and re-downloaded all my Steam content like 4 times before finding this work-around.

Re: hl2.exe problem **PLEASE HELP**
Make sure in each game properties, by right clicking on the game launch icon, has "always keep this game up to date" set in it.
I also don't have the check box checked that says "Run Steam when windows starts" in the Steam options, that seems to give allot of problems to people.
With Steam off try these...
Open your firewall, delete any HL2.exe
Go in to each game folder you play on your comp, and re allow each HL2.exe in your firewall.
Delete your clientregistry.blob in your steam folder.
Also clean up your drives and especially temp files before you start Steam.
Start Steam now, it will re update itself. Check this again to make sure it stayed after Steam updated.Make sure in each game properties, by right clicking on the game launch icon, has "always keep this game up to date" set in it.

Re: hl2.exe problem **PLEASE HELP**
Just a few suggestions.
Disable Steam Community in-game - This option can be disabled in Steam itself
Verify Game Integrity - Right click on the game in Steam and go to Properties
Defrag Game Files - Right click on the game in Steam and go to Properties
I had the same problem with my CS (not TF2 though... weird). I disabled Steam Community in-game and everything worked fine (just cant get msgs from anyone whilst playing).
