    Dead PCI slot

I came home today with my rig, been to a LAN party this weekend. When I plugged it in and started it, the monitor wouldn't start up. It just stayed on the orange light, like when it's unplugged. Went through the whole system, and when I put the GPU in the second slot, it started up.

The computer ran fine yesterday, but today the PCI slot was just dead. How can this happen over night, and should I consider a new mobo, as this mobo has become faulty and it could get me in other problems later on?

    Thanks.

Board could have been defective and just now died... or perhaps a voltage spike from your power supply fried it... I had a cheap power supply several years ago fry my mobo/CPU due to a really crappy 12 volt rail.
