    Need help with USB Ports

Ok so I was playing tf2 tonight then all of a sudden my mouse, keyboard and headphones stopped working. Come to find out that my USB ports have ceased working all together. Got an error message to the line of "This device has exceeded its power....." As of now, I have no mouse, keyboard or anything on my desktop right now. Anyone have any ideas as to how you could help me get this working again?

If you have rebooted with no luck. It sounds like you might have burnt em. Reinstall your driver for them(probably the motherboard driver) just to make sure. If all fails buy a PCI usb card for $15.

If it really is maxing out the power on those(which would be really odd) you can try using a hub that uses an AC adapter.

Try one device at a time and try them independently. I'm wondering if one of them is screwed up somehow.

Re: Need help with USB Ports

ok i figured this out yesterday and forgot to post about it. So apparently as long as my mouse was plugged in, none of the other ports was working, so I found a shitty optical mouse, plugged that in and everything worked. I guess how it was working is that it was readying the mouse as a failed USB device, and was thus reading all of them as failed, but without the mouse there to cause this error, everything worked....Im still confused as to how it all happened, but I purchased a new Logitech G9 mouse, and everything will be fine. So for all you CSS guys, enjoy your time without me because I will be limited play time until Monday.

Short in the cord maybe? Crossing lines in the usb wiring? I've never seen this before but you never know so...

G9 kicks ass by the way. Same mouse I have. Completely programmable and programmable by application or by application group. You can also pick different colors for the lcd (led?) on it so you know it's got the right settings in your app.
