I'm a network admin/Server tech. We end up having to support the over 140 user PC's in my company when an issue like this arises. I've actually had very good luck with this if the option is available. Granted there have been times where it didn't work. The method that Xav originally tried Change to i386 path by typing:

    ""cd i386

Copy necessary files to root path (C: in this case) of winxp installation by typing:

    copy ntldr C:
    copy ntdetect.com C:

Change back to your windows path""

has worked for me many times when we've experienced "ntldr is missing" errors.

    Re: Windows XP Boot Error

The above tips should work, with the copying the ntoskrnl files from the cd to the c drive. I dislike the windows repair option. From my experience, after the repair option is done and loads a new windows install over the old, it doesn't actually delete the old install. Sometimes theres conflicts after the "repair" process is done and you wind up with more problems than you had before. Whenever I have to reinstall (none of the above tips have worked) I typically just reformat the partition and get a nice fresh clean install. It only takes about 2-3 hours if you do a full format, and backups of all your drivers of course.

Good luck with getting it fixed.
