[Resolved] new microphone wont work help please!

i dont know if you guys have gone over this or not, but have you tryed setting you 3.5jack to your default... that could be it ?

it is about the same place where the volume setting is
Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio Tab->Sound Recording, i think it is for xp, and then just right click on the mic that u know you are using and set as default
for vista it is Control Panel/Sound/Recording then just right click and set as default

I had a problem with Vista and my 3.5mm microphone a few times on a couple of systems. A fix that worked was to disable (using the same screen where you set default devices) all the other audio input devices listed. Don't know why it fixed it, but it did.

No dice

My next fix (and still using it) was to turn on both my X-Fi PCI card AND my integrated audio. I turned all my default output to the X-Fi but tagged the mic input from my integrated system as default. I then plugged my speakers into my PCI card and my mic into the integrated...still using that configuration and it works fine...plus the mic input for my integrated audio is HD...

If I remember right you are playing on a laptop though eh?

No, I decided to go with a pimped out custom build from newegg. 12000+ 3d marks.

I managed to get it to work with the help of Joker. I guess you could call it an I d 10 T error. I had to go download the latest drivers for my mobo. I thought my mobo was top of the line.....go figure. Thanks for your help folks.
