11-23-08, 11:51 PM #1Problem with Microshit Zune software.
So I upgraded my computer recently from a AGP 6800 Ultra GPU mobo 478 socket 32 bit CPU to a new system with the new Socket 778 mobo and PCIE with a 9800GT and a 64 Bit processor. (still on XP 32 bit software)

Now my Windows XP gives me a critical error every time I try to start my Zune software. The weird part is, if I move the error message out of the way without clicking the OK button, the program works just fine with out a hitch. I have gone to the webpage that the error tells me to go to to help me fix the problem and no help there at all, and I have scoured all the Zune forums (official and unofficial) trying to find a fix without reinstalling and maybe even reformatting. I have reinstalled the Zune software numerous times and have cleaned the registry of it also, to no avail.

It is getting really annoying because I have about 7 gigs of new music to add to it, and it really pisses me off that I can't.

Only thing i can think of is that you didnt reinstall windows when you swapped all those things out, or didnt uninstall the old drivers and installed the new properly.
Windows could be flipping out because of sound drivers, file systems, a number of things. I dont think its the Zune software thats the problem.

if you didn't reformat after a mobo change, you're lucky windows didn't just kick you out to begin with. I tried that and windows called timeout and made me re-enter my CD key because the computer had changed so much...
Also, what kind of Zune?

Original Zune, 30GB.
And I do reformat actually every 6 months but I did that less than a month ago, so I don't really want to do it now.
When I put the new stuff in all it wanted was for me to reactivate because it recognized there was new hardware.
Ok then, I will start reformatting today I guess, even though I really don't want to.
Backing up my files takes forever....

Surprised me too.
I just finished, dare I say it, reformatting and installing Windows Vista. I feel dirty.
Now I'm in the process of reinstalling all my games and software, sigh. It takes longer to backup all my files and then download them back onto my computer than it actually does to reformat and reinstall Windows.
