I forgot to turn on the heater the other night and it was 55f inside my house. I turned on my computer and it was 25c opposed to normally 32c(system temp). I mean thats a drastic difference but for sure bumping down the ac cant hurt.

i know wih laptop the temperature of everything has an affect. if you stick it on something cold it helps to cool it down, something hot and it will heat up. If you use it out on a patio whens its 60 out it will be cooler then if it was 80 out.
Also as i've learned don't put a laptop in the sun! Man will it heat up like crazy, i think mine spiked once from like 120 F to 142 F :O
And yes my laptop is a heat box for anyone wondering, all Lenovos/IBMs are.

I have a e6850 @ 3.0 with speed stepping. I have it in the basement as apposed to the upstairs level where it is warmer. I also have a program to speed up the fan.
Up stairs on a full load it will run at 41 to 42c and sometimes 45c when running games for long enough..... Downstairs on full load it will run 33 to 34c. Considerable amount when the temp change is slightly different. I also think the amount of humidity/dryness you have in the room can also affect it. Not much of a difference but it is a variable.
