    Windows Server 2008

Hey Tech folk! Got another question that I'm hoping can be answered here. I've posted on microsoft forums and no responses yet.

At work here I have a Windows 2008 machine (can not change the OS), and my boss wants to use MS Virtual Server 2005 RC2 SP1.

I can install it all great, I can get to the web interface. HOWEVER, the web interface yields me nothing. I can click on add/create machine and get no update to the interface.

Any chance one of you have played/worked with these systems and can provide me a few pointers.

How much does your company push Microsoft products? If they don't, when it comes to a virtual environment, try VMware ESXi. It is it's own OS and you install your virtual servers on that. If you must use Microsoft, Server 2008 comes with Hyper-V. I would suggest using that instead of Virtual Server 2005. Do some homework on Hyper-V. Server 2008 R2 will be coming out in the near future, also. Look at Windows IT Pro's website. They did a comparision between Hyper-V and VMware.

    Re: Windows Server 2008

On my personal Laptop I have VMWare Workstation (IMO better than Virtual Server), however, my Boss is out of office for the next 3 days (I started yesterday and he is gone for the first couple days I am here yikes) so I can not make any changing type decisions (his company after all and I am just a JR Dev in my first job [1 of 3 people employed here] so I am not too keen on doing anything like changing his software)

But thanks for the input, I'll let him know when he is back and discuss it further with him. However, as I said, I need to get Virtual Server '05 working with Windows Server '08

Windows 2008, depending on the edition you have, includes virtualization... Do some searching on Hyper-V
