Thread: McAfee vs. norton vs. ?

From my experience Norton and Macafee both blow. I had to deal with a particular client that had total idiot employees that would download everything off the net they thought was cool or cool looking (women in their young thirties). They had norton internet security on their machines and I would have to reformat their machines every 2 months because it was faster than removing all of the infections. I finally convinced their boss that we needed to change the software. I put bitdefender on all of their machines and I haven't had to go back in 8 months.

I use Avast for my computers at home because it's free and that boot time scan is sexy!

Careful Cybs... most of the licenses for free AV & Anti-spyware/malware stuff state it can't be used for commercial/business purposes. Right off the bat, that should eliminate Spybot S&D. Malwarebytes and Avira both offer commercial versions that you can use, providing you pay for them.

The last thing you want is to get caught with pirated software in a commercial setting. The fines are astronomical.

Also things you want to consider in a business setting is centralized management/alerting. People are all too accustomed to clicking through any pop-ups that appear, including those that contain the vital info about virus infection.
