    Computer problem- Need input

I have an older 939 socket 3800 X2 on a Asus A8N32-SLi. When I turn it on, it works fine for a while. If I reboot it, the POST/BIOS screens are garbled and Windows won't boot. If I let it sit and cool down it will boot fine again. Obviously it's an overheating issue.

The problems... 1 of the the video cards I just got back from RMA. The other one I recently picked up on eBay because it was the same exact as the first one. While the cards were out, I took off the NB heatsink (Which required me to take off the whole heat pipe assy) and redid the chips with silver paste.

What is most likely overheating? I'm thinking the NB sink?

too much paste can be bad as well. I would take the heat sinks off again and put a very small amount on the sinks. Reseat them and try again.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

Some paste is electrically conductive so check that you didn't get some anywhere else.

Well, after some testing.... Out of 3 video cards, 2 are bad. One has artifacts all over the place and the other overheats. Ironically... both of the cards I recently got back from RMA.
