help plz: PC randomly shuts off, and won't boot up completely

so yeah, my PC will randomly shut itself off, and the power light will stay on. When I turn it back on, it won't boot up completely (won't boot up windows), and shuts itself off again. I unplugged the power cord and let it sit overnight, and it worked fine this morning, but after an hour it shut off again. :3

    this is my PC: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883113085

I tried customer support, and they sucked.
I'll really appreciate any help! I really don't want to send it back

The problem here is that it could be a number of things. You'll get 10 people who had the same thing happen to them and the solution was to change ten different parts. It really comes down to swapping out parts until you find which one is defective. Start with the memory. Good luck.

My first guess: be sure the heatsink/fan unit is securely fastened to the CPU. Might be that your processor is overheating and it's triggering a failsafe.

Second guess: power supply might be overheating.

well...that was what I was afraid of. I was googling all morning and haven't found anything useful. I think I'm just gonna send it back and get a replacement, since it sounds like a hardware issue. I just got the PC a week or two ago.
I checked all the fans and heatsinks, they look fine.
oh well, thanks anyways guys. I'll be TF2less and L4Dless for a while

If after being off for a while it shuts off and then when you turn it back on it dies quickly, it is a heating issue. Mine was the power supply, first i pulled one stick of memory, same then swapped sticks, same. so either both sticks were blown or it's not memory. Mine was random, with no warning, even in bios it reset. So that eliminated software. Checked all my plugs etc. diconected non essential stuff. Still same problem. So bigdog recomended to go to bestbuy pick up a psu put it in and see what happened. That way you could return it easier if it didn't work. I got it and sure enough that fixed it.

Like others have said check the memory, but make sure its seated correctly and secure. I had a similiar problem and unplugged everything but memory and then finally took the memory out and and put it back in and everything and it worked fine.
