    I don't know much about ATI...so, would anyone here recommend this card?

    I currently have an 8800 GTS (640 MB ram, E6600 Core 2 Duo, and 2 gigs of good ram...is it worth the upgrade or would the marginal results not be worth the price?

    Not an upgrade from the 8800gts.

    Good Card, nice price, but your looking at at least the 4850 before you going to get enough power over the 8800 to be worth the money. I have the same card and wouldnt upgrade to anything less than the 260 or 4870 currently.

    Once your deem your video card outdated (which I don't think is the case currently - I had a ATI X300 until 2 months ago and played TF2 on it with average detail) check this video card hierarchy chart to know where your gpu stands on the food pyramid:
