Thread: Will this CPU work with this motherboard

I bought this CPU as an upgrade for my son

without considering that it would not work on his existing motherboard.

So I am looking for a motherboard now - but he has a decent AGP video card and I don't want to upgrade that as well

so will this motherboard work

The CPU has a 1333 MHz FSB and the motherboard has a 1066/800MHz FSB
do those have to be the same?

Yes these two should work together. Their socket types are both LGA 775 and as far as the fsb (front side bus) goes the CPU will get backed down to what the motherboard is 1066/800

Thanks guys - I'll look to see if there is an AGP supporting MB with higher FSB, otherwise I'll get that one
