No voice output device installed No mic plugged in
This is the problem im having with now with Vista 64bit.
I have a sould blaster x-fi titanium
an a nforce 750i sli mobo
When I have the sound card in it fixes the " No voice output device installed" , which means when I don't have it the on board sound does not work.
When I do have the sound card in, the mic appear as plugged in ( even though it is)
I've tried reinstalling the drivers
Disabling/enabling on board sound
reformatting to 32 bit
unistalling hardware and rebooting
an countless other ideas.
I'm lost i've spent a lot of time on this and I can't seem to figure out why the mic wont work with the sound card and why if I don't use the sound card can't I get on board sound.
help?!

Re: No voice output device installed No mic plugged in
Are you getting any error messages about sound services not being started up or failing to initialize?
When I installed vista64 I had an issue with the sound service not automatically starting for some reason....I had to open the services control panel and manually set it to startup.
Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services
Check services Windows Audio Endpoint Builder and Windows Audio. Also open them up and check their dependencies and make sure those are running ok and set to run.

Re: No voice output device installed No mic plugged in
no errors.
Just when i have the sound card in the mic will not show as plugged in.
I went through the device manager and there aren't any question marks it all looks fine.
When I dont have the sound card in it just has the x by the volume " no output device installed" even though i installed realtek drivers.

Re: No voice output device installed No mic plugged in
i used the 64bit drivers from the creative site and still the mic doesnt show.
if I could just get the mic part to work I could give 2 craps about on board sound.
the card obviously works, cause I tested it on xp home.
but not on vista 64?!

Re: No voice output device installed No mic plugged in
I'm grasping at straws here, but maybe try to remap the sound card ports and use a different one for mic and see if that works? Not sure if that sound software allows it, some do. For example I use my rear speaker output as a second front audio output. Maybe you can set the port that is normally for sound to the mic and test it.
Are you using different mics? When you tested it at home, the mic worked then right?
And you went into sound properties through control panel and checked all of the tabs and boxes for the mic and sound card to make sure nothing was set goofy?
