Just curious as to how many of you built your own gaming rig....

As the subject states. How many of you actually built your own gaming rig? How many of you bought from the store? (eg. dell, hp, gateway)

Personally I built my own. I think it's cheaper and you get a MUCH better system. On top of that you get a sense of pride about building it yourself lol

Built my own with the advice of many TTP members, and the hands on help of a RL friend. I spent ~$800 on a machine that at the time would have probably retailed for ~$1200, so not bad.

I've been building my own PCs for the last 12 years or so. Only pre-built machine I'll buy is a laptop.

I guess....I had a laptop just before I built my desktop. Wanted it for gaming but when it comes down to it a laptop is NEVER going to compare to the power of a desktop. especially for gaming. Now that I think about it I feel as if buying a laptop is a waste of money because you can't upgrade anything other than the hdd and add some ram. aside from that if you want anything to be better that means buying an entirely new laptop and if it's going to be a good one it's going to cost you a lot more than building a desktop would and obviously...you can upgrade anything and everything on a desktop minimizing the costs a lot and not needing to upgrade so often. Laptops are only good for work lol, like documents I think but not gaming

now that I look back at all the times my parents bought a desktop or anyone else I know that doesn't know how to build one i feel like those larger companies REALLY rip you off. I know they're not so expensive anymore but when compared to how much it would be to just build your own it's still quite a bit of money that you could have used for better things =/
