Multi HDD Raids (3 or more drives)
What can I say, I'm a bit of a speed freak when it comes to my computer.
The problem I have right now is many fold, A) My current Raptors are old B) They are Raptors (1.5Gb) and comparitively slow C) They are 36 Gb and to small
So I'm looking at getting 2 Velociraptor drives (300Gb ones), although after watching the video on the Samsung 24 drive RAID I got to thinking what kind of improvements would I see with say going with 3-4 F1 drives in a striped RAID? Anyone know? My thought is that I could get say 4 320Gb F1 drives and spend much less and possibly get the same performance?
Money is tight right now since I have to do a new timing belt and clutch on my car (About $2K) and I have a wedding to go to in Florida in May. So for now, the less money I spend the better.

Check out the setup and screens from the build I did in this thread.
Short answer -
RAID stands for redundant array of INEXPENSIVE disks.
Cheap drives in a stripe haul ass.
Get a mainboard that has two raid controllers-

make a 2 disk mirrored volume on one controller for backups and a 4 (or 6) disk stripe on the other. I assure you it hauls all kinds of ass. Loading times are a joke.
