    Old Parts?

I don't know what happened to my kids' pc, but for some reason it isn't turning on, we are trying to pin point the problem right now, but I was actually looking at the thing, and some of the huge differences between my pc and theirs, some things I can't even test because of the cord differences and such, but I was wondering if anyone possibly has updated something and has an old piece or two laying around that I could try to slightly upgrade the their computer. Of course number one would be the board or the processor, but anything would be helpful. They don't need much, hell what I have for them right now is about 8 years old, so anything is better then nothing, especially if I can't even turn it on right now lol. So if anyone is in or around the Austin area, I would be down for a small drive to get anything usable for them to learn and explore on =P Thanks

Once I get my new video card, I can send you my 8600 GT if you want.

I also now have a 300W power supply lying around.

    Re: Old Parts?

I have a 300w power supply, however, the board has a 10 peg, while the power supply has a 12 lol, THAT'S how old the damn thing is. Hell, the hard drive is one of the old plugs even, I couldn't test it on my pc, had to test it on their dads comp. It's crazy, i dont know what to do, would take quite a few pieces to actually make it all work. If I can get a slightly newer board with the slots I would need for the card, it would be great, so I will let you know if I do, and thanks so much for the offer.

No problem, just look at tigerdirect or newegg for a new mobo.

If you don't want to spend the money on it, check out eBay or craigslist.

Does it look like this on the inside? If so it is a BTX formfactor:

By the way, if it's not even turning on, your power supply may be the problem.

well, it has power, but it doesn't do anything. The fans go and it's an orange power light, at first I thought it may be the hard drive, but it's not, I tested it.

ha, how sad, I couldn't even find a pic of it, was a gateway prebuild from feb 02, but here are the specs xD

Make sure all of the parts you get fit the mATX form factor. uATX and mATX are the same.
