    Too many case choices.....

I'm putting together a pc to go with my entertainment center. I would like one of the typical HTPC cases, but they are really wide and would not fit with my system the way I would like. I have been looking at some of the lan style small box cases, but I don't know which one to buy. These two have caught my eye http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133044 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811144162 I know Thermaltake makes good cases I just don't like all the neon lighting. The Apevia case is cool, but I don't know about the quality. My other option is to buy a micro tower like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119088 I have the mid tower version of this case and I love it. The problem with the tower is that it's 15 inches tall and I think it would look funny sitting next to my tv stand.

    Suggestions?

    Re: Too many case choices.....

The only drawback to the LAN style cases is that they only fit one hard drive. I have an HTPC that holds 3 hard drives. I currently have a 1TB, 500GB, and a 320GB on the PC, and I am down to my last 250GB of storage. The 320GB holds the OS and all of my music while the other two drives hold my movies and television series. I also have the system setup for video capture which I program through Windows Media Center.

Either way, my suggestion is to go for the HTPC case over the LAN case. I would just reconsider how you want it setup in your livingroom.

I'm only using this system to play my music, stream Netflix, and surf the web. Having only one hard drive won't be a problem. I am constrained by the fact that I have to place this system next to my entertainment center on the subwoofer. If you saw my living room layout you would understand. I'm limited to about 15" square and most of the inexpensive HTPC cases are wider than that. I am probably going to get the Thermaltake lan box.

    Re: Too many case choices.....

I would agree with your choice. I splurged on my Antec P182B because it's my primary rig and I have to move it occasionally, but in your case the Thermaltake suits your needs better than any type of tower case. It's a better choice than the Apevia as well, there's not a whole lot of point in shaving off a few dollars if you're worried about quality.
