So, assuming that I wanted to get Windows 7 - and I just bought Vista 64 Home Premium...would you recommend an upgrade copy or a full install copy?

Assuming I went the upgrade route, what would happen in the future when I wanted to reformat?

I would reinstall Vista completely then pop in the Windows 7 Upgrade DVD?

I bet he means he did the upgrade version.

I wouldn't buy an upgrade version. I'd buy the real disk. Otherwise, in the future when you want to reload the OS (and you will over the course of several years, especially if you are in the habit of upgrading your PC), you'll have to load vista first, update, then load the upgrade, update.....assuming it all continues to work like that 1, 2, or 3 years from now.

damn straight, upgrades are such a pain in the ass even when they go through 100% - better to just spend the money on the full on disk.

I'd go with the full for reasons stated above.

Re: Anandtech: Windows 7: Release Candidate 1 Preview

Would it make sense to have Vista or XP on one drive and Windows 7 on another, just in case Windows 7 runs into problems down the line?

Or are RC's considered to be very stable?
