Whats the deal??

I bought BF2142 and NS, downloaded it from EA's download manager, installed and played a few games a night for about a week. . Last night I tried to open 2142 and at first the hour glass thing would show up after clicking the icon and then nothing. I would CTRL/ALT/DEL to see the processes and it wouldn't show up in there. I tried to start it from x-fire.... nothing...... tried it from the target folder, nothing......... uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing..... So what the hell is the deal??

What os are you running,I had a similar prob with bf2 and vista 64 ended up having to do a manual install

I am running XP Pro 32 bit right now. The game ran a week ago. When I try and start it x-fire even reconizes it and says i started the game then stops.

I wonder if I should just install Win7 and it would fix the problem....

No..... I cant figure this one out but I haven't had much time to mess with it either.

Those of you with Win7 installed, are you having any problems with 2142 or PunkBuster?

Punkbuster does not work under Windows 7. Evenbalance has no plans of releasing a fix until Windows 7 ships. There are workarounds for some people, but for most it just plain don't work.

Could I request a mod to move this to the 2142 forum? I may have better luck as it pertains to that particular game.

If you are running windows 7 you aren't going to have any better luck anywhere. I talked with evenbalance and they said just what wileE said... they weren't going to touch windows7 until it was final retail. There are workarounds for the x86 version of windows 7 but if you are running x64 you are screwed.
