    Comp. Prob

So after unplugging my comp to clean it seems I now have a significant problem.

    It wont boot up.

I have a feeling it might be the mobo for the simple reason that I can't even enter the BIOS. I try to push Delete to get there and nothing. F1 to continue..nothing As if my system just doesn't respond.

    I've tried..

    Resetting the CMOS

Unplugging the SATA to the HD

    Removing and Swaping RAM

Making sure everything is plugged in.

I have a feeling the mobo just might be shot, any suggestions?

So when you hit the button you hear fans spinning? Or is it just the sound of the button going click and that is it?

If any of the fans are running it could either be your PSU or MOBO.

If no fans spin its probably your PSU.

    PSU is fine, fan spins.

It's when I get to the boot menu screen my computer doesn't respond.

Does the CPU fan spin also? Is the CPU fan firmly plugged in? If the CPU fan died the system might be shutting itself down to avoid CPU overheating which takes only seconds without a fan.

Try using only one sticky of RAM then the other in case a stick failed which would cause a lockup.

When you cleaned it, did you unplug and ground yourself first or wear a grounding strap? Might have shocked something with static electricity.

Some mobo's have a little two digit display. When you try to boot up, check that display and look up the code based on your mobo. If yours doesn't have this I'm not sure what it might be.

Are you getting past the initial bios screen? Meaning after all the bios gobbly-gook it doesn't launch into Windows?

well It was already shut down, I was cleaning the room not the comp. So i'm pretty sure I didnt trip anything. I'll try swapping memory around in the dim slots again.

Weird, I have to push a key just to get a picture on my screen or else it stays as no single.

Then I get to the screen where it asks f1 to continue, Delete to go to BIOS screen. I won't let me select anything. I tried hitting the f5 prior to that screen and it wont.

And no I don't have digital display.

Have you confirmed your keyboard is working? If it is possible, try a different keyboard and/or different port.

This may be a long shot but check your battery too. Sometimes when they fail so does booting of the computer and you usually only find that out after you completely shut the power down to the MoBo. I had the same problem recently.... unplugged it over night because of a storm and the bastage wouldn't post the next day. Changed the batt and everything was good.
