    Looking at a Wii...

Been wanting to play some of the old GameCube games as well as some of the new ones out for the Wii, and I'm wondering if the Wii can be used with a normal PC monitor instead of a TV, like DVI or HDMI. It sounds like it comes packaged with standard A/V cables and something called a SCART cable, but I can't find mention of any kind of connectivity through DVI, HDMI, or other means. Any of you own a Wii?

Screw that, then. I'm not gonna go buy a damn TV just so I can play Metroid Prime again.

A google search found that component to DVI cables exist. Not sure how it would work, but maybe it's worth a try? They did look a bit pricey though.

I'm sure there is an adapter of sorts you can find to make it work.

Yeah. Still way too much cash when all I want to do is play Metroid Prime again, and maybe some of the Zelda games.

Beginning to remember why I ditched consoles years ago.

The problem is that the connector out of the Wii is propriety, i.e. even if you could find an composite or component to DVI converter (and after a quick look I couldn't) you'd have to use two converters.

    Re: Looking at a Wii...

If playing Gamecube games is what you are after, My kid's gamecube finally broke (many years later) and instead of fixing it, I found on on ebay for $20
That plus the adapter solutions mentioned above would solve your problem.
My expierence with my Wii would make me thing twice about using it with a monitor anyways. You need a big TV and room to move to get the most from a Wii
