alright any linux brainiacs know about this, this laptop begins booting dsl and gets caught when
"PCMCIA found, starting cardmgr"
I assume it is doing its hardware checks and found the cardbus so how come it is sticking and why is it impossible to get past it?

Re: Linux Advice
Sometimes those distros have a "debug" boot option that let you step through the boot process that might help you out. Additionally they can have options which skip different parts of the boot (like starting PCMCIA support). I'd check the boot options when you get the boot prompt.
Otherwise I'm not familiar enough with Linux's PCMCIA support to know why it appears to be hanging.
