8800GT, now what?

If you had a boat load of money the Nvidia GTX 295 is a pretty meaty card. Other than that if I was to upgrade my 8800GT now I would get a eVGA GTX 280 probably.

Is Nvidia going from a 4 number system to a 3 number system?

I'd like to replace my 7900 GTOC soon. It's still having heat issues. I want to get the best so would you guys say the best Nvidia card is the GTX 295?

After hearing about other people's heat issues with Nvidia on top of mine, I'm tempted to just go ATI....

The ATI solutions out there are quite nice right now. But the Nvidia 260 is where the dollar and power line up the nicest usually. Deals vary by retailer of course.

You can say the same thing almost anytime. There's always something new around the corner. Sometimes ya gotta make the jump. That being said, I've had heat issues with my 8800GT. Already RMA'd once. I am likely going to buy a 4870 so I can have an all AMD rig later this year.

My friend's 8800GT just shit the bed on him too... His was not under warranty, so I gave him my old HD2900XT until his next purchase.
