    Upgrading my system

I'm going to be upgrading my system in a week and I wanted your thoughts on my build. I'm going to integrate my current GPU (9800GTX+) and my two HDD (74GB WD Raptor in RAID) to this build:

    CPU:

    Mobo:

    RAM:

I'm going to see what this feels like first and then I will get this GPU if I don't like my old one:

My questions to the community are:

    1) Any recommendations or does this meet the criteria of a gaming comp?
    2) If you are going to build things differently, how would you do it and why?
    3) How can I get 8GB packages instead of 6GB packages of RAM?

Your help and wealth of knowledge is greatly appreciated

The Core i7 CPUs have 3-channel memory controllers on them, so the recommendation is to put memory in multiples of 3. Adding the 4th stick to bring it up to 8 gigs won't necessarily benefit you all that much.

You've picked out nice stuff Rico.

I do however have a few recommendations.

If you do go ahead and buy the GTX 285, don't buy the superclocked edition. Save your money and buy the stock version (this one). The GTX 285 is such a powerful card you won't need the overclocking to get excellent frames in all your games. And if you ever want to you can easily overclock the card yourself using EVGA precision tool (you literally just hit a button, no bios no nothing).

My second recommendation is you rethink your mobo selection. I just recently built myself an i7 rig and did quite a bit of research before I made my purchases, and no where did I see anybody recommending an intel mobo.

I would recommend you look at these motherboards which are very similar in price to the one you picked out. Both Gigabyte and Asus are known for making high quality mobos.

Or even either of these two boards, which are a little cheaper, but still probably better than that intel mobo.

And like WileE said, you wanna stick with tri-channel RAM (three sticks).
