From my old machine... Thinking about an upgrade but not sure if it would do any good. The only game that I play is TF2.

Either way your foundation is solid so when a upgrade comes in the future you performance will sky rocket.

ATI's new dx11 cards should be out late this year. That means Nvidia will be right around the corner with their new cards.

I would wait until Feb of next year..........if ya can.

Providing you're not pushing huge resolutions, the 8800GT is more than adequate for your needs, Will. Like Jason said, investing now when DX11 is around the corner wouldn't be recommended. You'll be fine with what you have until then.

    Re: Finally DONE!!! It's Alive!!!

The only problem that I have is now my 8800 GT is giving me fits. I had VISTA 32 on the machine. Installed 64 bit adn now my FPS is going from 299 at times to 12 during fights!!! I can't figure it out. I am almost willing to buy a new card (Maybe ATI) jsut to see if it fixes the problem. Might just bring the box to QC for some friendly tuning before I purchase.

What do you think of this card? I ahve always had NVIDIA but have heard that Steam runs better on ATI. Thoughts?

    Re: Finally DONE!!! It's Alive!!!

What driver version are you running with your 8800GT ? I think they just released new WHQL drivers the other day. You also might try some of the older WHQL drivers and see if that helps any. Sometimes the newer drivers aren't always best for older hardware...

Either of those cards would be good. I'm not as familiar with the AMD/ATI manufacturers, but I do know that XFX and Visiontek offer lifetime warranty on their cards. Most of the others only offer a year or two.

    Here's an XFX for $149.99

They have a special today on the XFX 4890 for $189.99 (Promo Code EMCLVNP29)
