    need help with drive's

I have to hard drive's. Regular drive & one for gaming. I want to move all my games to the gaming drive from the other but i don't know how to do so. At the moment im re-installing crysis, instead of installing it to the C: im installing it to F:, which is the gaming drive. I'm see if it works out. My question is, is there anyway I can move 2142 to my F: drive with out uninstallinf it & reinstalling again? Or do I have to uninstall the game?

I'm no expert... but i would think that would be impossible short of manually changing all the reg keys and inserting the proper paths etc.. to the new drive. I would think that the keys that were put in the registry refer to files with a path of the old drive.

World of Warcraft and it's like are the only ones that can just be moved, most games make changes to the system registry and have to be uninstalled and then reinstalled for it to work properly.

    I concur with the others.

But I'm curious to as why you're putting games seperately on anoter drive? I would think you want your programs and games on the same drive as your OS... And use the other one for storage (pictures, music, etc.)

The theory is that if your OS is reading and writing to your main drive for basic things like virus scan, etc while you are playing then your game can read and write to the 2nd drive without having to wait "it's turn" with your OS. It's fairly common to use your main drive for OS and OS related apps only.

My mom wants me to do it ! lol. Not my computer. But I still use it the most. Plus I had to uninstall it. The Map/Kit loadout will show when I join a server but it wont let me type or mouse mouse cursor. But I could still see people in the background moving, talking, typing & etc...

Doesn't your games go "through" your OS to function?

yayupp... that's what he's saying... if the game files are on the "main" drive... then if the o.s. has to read/write for other programs... then the game has to take it's "turn" waiting in line to access the HDD... if it's on the 2nd drive... then the game "should" be the only thing accessing that drive while the other programs are accessing the main drive. end result... the game is the only one in line for accessing the drive = faster performance.

The best way to get better performance from a game (IMO) is to turn off ALL unnecessary running programs and then play.
