    zune FTW.

apple puts out a decent product, but the way they control them is CRAZY!

my zune does everything I would ever want from an ipod....and my blackberry storm does even more than an iphone :-P

seriously, just about the storm's facebook app...it linked people in my phone's contacts with my FB friends list, and then added their profile photo to their contact entry...it also puts all their B-days and any events I RSVP to on FB on my on-phone calendar.

yep....This ipod is the first and LAST Apple product I will EVER own. I like it,but the way they claim ownership after it has been purchased is crazy.

It would be like selling a new car, getting top dollar for it,then telling the customer where they can and can't drive it.

Sansa players won't play any music with DRM, regardless of the format. So any iTunes purchased mp4s (that still have DRM) will not play on a Sansa. I also have a Sansa player, (an e250) and I like it well enough, but I prefer the additional functionality the iPod Touch offers. I never really found myself loading more than a couple gigs of songs onto my Sansa and using the MicroSD made the power-on process slow, so I usually left out the SD card.
I don't have itunes on my computers nor use it. You can get mp4s from other places besides itunes as well.

I have never had any power up slowness from my sansa when the microsd was in. Did they ever put a radio in any of the ipods yet?

They sell an FM attachment for like $70. I have a AM/FM Walkman that is just fine for about $40.
As for itunes....it's not too bad. I think the best bet is to get a laptop, and connect it to my home stereo via HDMI. Especially when the new version of itunes comes out,and it has Blu-Ray support. I really don't dl any mp3s,I use it to upload my cds on to. I'm old school like that....I would much rather have the cd in my hand, than let Apple,or any other company control what I do with it,or where I can play it. Plus....no need to back it up.

I still prefer physical media and ripping my own MP3s. Not impressed with the quality some of the online sites use for the MP3s that they sell. I still back my MP3s up, since I don't want to have to create MP3s for 1200 or so CDs again if I lost a drive. To be honest, I don't listen to the radio, and if I do, it's Sirius... Most times, I just listen to my iPod or some other streaming source (Sirius, Pandora, etc) via wireless.

You know where Apple really fails?

They released the iPhone and iPod Touch more than two years ago and they STILL don't have any plans to make a touch screen Mac PC or Laptop using the same technology. NONE. They have a huge cash cow sitting in their hands, and they haven't done anything with it.

I like my local radio because it covers things that none of the national radios will cover like local weather politics and traffic. My wife uses her Fuse in the car and loves it when she doesn't want to listen to the radio or wants to listen to a audio book.

I back up all my mp3s too, and we converted all our CDs to mp3. I've been looking for an mp4 converter too for a trip we are going to take in October.

I too love my local radio stations. But one thing I have discovered,is that my fav. radio show (Garage Logic on AM 1500) is also on itunes. I dl it every morning, and have much better fidelity than the AM broadcast, plus no commercials and the ability to pause or rewind(old school ) if I miss something,or have to do something else. It makes me a day behind, but the benefits outweigh the time factor.

I consult the web for local weather, politics and traffic.

If you want an MP4 converter, I hear iTunes works. :9
