Use Windows 7 RTM free and legal for 120 days

There are already legal ways for many of us to get an ISO of Windows 7 RTM right now. However, not all of us are able to buy a license until October. Still, there is hope.

And in case you want to verify that your ISO is actually legitimate, Microsoft themselves have released a tool to let you do just that.

I've been on RC1 for two reasons... (1) I can't buy a license yet and (2) I am not sure I can get a "proper" RTM ISO through legitimate means. These articles solve most of those concerns, so I think I shall switch to RTM this weekend, and buy myself a license in October when normal people are allowed to.

I hope I don't appear to be encouraging anything shady or illegal in this post. As far as I can tell, these links are both legit and permissable by MS. I apologize if I am mistaken.

If you have an MSDN, Technet, Action Pack or Advantage subscription, you get free license keys and don't need to use the RTM in a "trial" mode at all. So the only reason someone would have to "extend" their trial period is if they got the RTM off of a torrent, which is definitely not MS approved. The only people that have access to the RTM at this time are OEMs and subscribers I do believe (correct me if I'm wrong).

While technically, the actions in the site are legitimate... Actually gaining access to the RTM where you would need to use those instructions is a bit....... shady.

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.
