    Very funny, Logitech

I am usually pretty happy with Logitech, and this isn't really a major complaint, but I think it's silly.

Most big hardware companies were offering Win7 drivers months ago. Logitech's official stance was that they wouldn't offer Win7 drivers until the launch date. So for the past 2 months, for my MX518 mouse, I've been using version 4.80 Vista drivers from 8/05. And of course, they worked fine. No big deal. But I was curious what they would "reveal" for their Win7 drivers.

Well, now that they are allowing themselves to release Win7 drivers, they have simply taken the 4.80 drivers (from 2 months ago) and called them Win7 worthy. Pretty funny... don't know why they couldn't just say it 2 months ago.

Veo, lots of software companies did this. They didn't want to say they supported Windows 7 before the launch, but quietly had drivers/updates that were Windows 7 compatible. Basically they didn't want to be supporting every Tom, Dick & Harry who downloaded the Beta/RC or pirated a copy of the RTM.

But Tom, Dick, and Harry can still download the beta and RC, and can still pirate the RTM.

And they were supporting them with perfectly functional drivers, they were just saying that they weren't.

When I say support, I mean accept phone calls on their support line or field e-mails from their support site. If people had problems, they didn't want to deal with it until the release date. They were being good Microsoft sycophants.

Exacty. This allowed them to have a boiler plate response to the effect of:

Thank you for choosing Logitech. We understand that you are having difficulty using our Insert Product Here with Windows 7. At this time, we do not support Windows 7 for our products, but wish to assure you our Developement Team is currently working to have compatible drivers at the release of Windows 7. At this time we suggest you wash the sand out of your vagina, and we hope you Die in a Fire, you useless pirating whiner lamefuck. We also encourage you to never contact us again. QQ.

Same thing happened with Kaspersky (my anti-virus). They said they wont have a Win7-compatible update until its actually released, so Ive had to resort to using AVG for the last month and a half while my Kaspersky subscription sits there doing nothing.

AVG sucks these days... use Avast! Read reports on av-comparatives.org.
