    Getting rid of AVG

I'm trying to un-install AVG from my girlfriends computer because it's expired or some crap like that. Anyways, I get errors and wont un-installed. Tried googling how to get rid of it. There wasn't much. Found some Perfect Uninstaller thing, but you have to pay for it.

So, has anyone ever ran into this problem or has any thought on how to get rid of it?

You might try re-installing it, and see if that will then allow an uninstall.

    Which OS, by the way?

Wasn't really a problem. But tried to uninstall to put something else on there, and everything went to shit.

Now AVG doesn't show up in the remove programs but there are still processes running for it.

Just do a search for anything "AVG" and delete it.

Are you going to be updating with a new AVG? Like are you going from AVG 8 to AVG 9? There will be no need to uninstall it if you are just upgrading it.

You could also try installing a newer AVG anyways if you still need to remove it. See if it adds something that it was somehow missing before and then see if it fully removes it that way.

I'd try that first though. If it is saying it is not installed now, you should be fine just deleting it as long as it is not in your control panel any more.

This can happen when portions of the installation files are removed, without removing the program itself (or, portions of the program remain installed).

See if this tool will remove the buggered installation files and allow a new installation, so you can then do a full uninstall: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

You might first try a System Restore to a point prior to all this headache and then try to uninstall again.
