Windows 7 Time?
I know this is a bit late, but I would still appreciate some advice on the topic. College students have been offered a Windows 7 upgrade for only $30, which seems pretty sweet to me.
So my questions are, what is the difference between the upgrade and the full retail? I have a legit copy of Vista 64-bit, but I don't have the product key, is that going to be an issue? And last, is it worth the upgrade?
I have been wanting to do reformat for a little bit now and this seems like the perfect time to. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
Also, here is the link if anyone else is interested.

Re: Windows 7 Time?
I've done hundreds of Win 7 upgrades at work since the release and it has never asked me for a key, even if I do a custom install on a formatted drive with an upgrade disc. I heard before the launch date that it would at least ask you for a Vista key if you were doing a custom install, but I haven't been prompted yet. In any case, OEM versions start at $100 anyway. Pretty decent price for anyone who can't get a free upgrade.

for so little investment I think a windows 7 install would be worth it. It's just not worth a 200 buck investment.

There's a lot of FUD going around about upgrades. Some people say it invalidates your existing key of Vista/XP, but everything I've read is what others here have reported. In all honesty though, I'd rather purchase an OEM copy, which is what I did for my gaming rig.
