We have a Flp ultraHD. It records 720p and is just awesome.

How do you present that data McStrange?

Plugging the device into the TV via component?
    Burning AVCHD?

Upgraded to a Q9550 today, and that made a hell of a difference. With that and Sony Vegas, I can go dump my spare XP install I had to do to run the bundled software that came with the camera.

Word to the wise, HD video editing and dual core machines dont mix well IMO.

Quad core and lots of RAM needed right? Any kind of video editing and rendering requires extra processing and memory, and the only way to utilize the memory is with 64bit.

I haven't seen it jump above 2 GB even though I am running Windows 7 and it takes the better part of 1 GB to get to the desktop. I currently have 4GB.

The processor is the biggest thing I have observed.

Encoding video is very processor intensive. Providing the program you're using to encode supports multiple cores, the more cores you have, the faster it'll be. Yes, it will use a bit of memory but it's very definitely CPU-limited.
