Re: Need a new monitor... Any suggestions?
Ok. Thank you for the info. I already knew about the S-IPS panels because I have them at work. I guess my new requirements (from all of your info) are now 22"+, 1920x1200, and an IPS panel. Now I already have the Dell suggestion, anyone have any others?

Re: Need a new monitor... Any suggestions?
Ive owned the dell ultrasharp 22", an acer 24", and a sumsung 22" and the samsung is far far better that anything I have used. The samsung is 2ms response time and that seems to make a big difference vs. the 6ms or more monitors ive used. I also saw BigAg's Asus at Quakecon and I was quite impressed. Good luck with your purchase!

It used to be listed for $300 and you could get it for $200 on sale. I would still buy it for $360. Any more though and I might have to more carefully consider other options. Search for my previous posts here about the 2209WA with links to reviews... for $200 it was seriously an unheard of bargain. It was outperforming $1000+ Eizo displays on one review I linked. Like buying a Corvette for $15k while all your friends are spending $20k on riced out Mustangs.

You need to read it and see why the 2ms and 6ms G2G response times they advertise don't mean shit. Input lag is what matters most, and it isn't published. The only place to find it is objective reviews.

Re: Need a new monitor... Any suggestions?
The dell I had was one of the older models....so it was probably one of the shitty ones. As far as the samsung...most customer reviews mentioned the response time was awesome and there was no "ghosting," which I guess means tearing? The input lag is the mouse lag, correct? Either way, I am overly satisfied with mine.
Either way, my dumbass just buys and tries until I get happy 8)

If you can get a BETTER monitor, which has all the same characteristics that matter for gaming (response times), but also have superior color reproduction and viewing angles... all for LESS $$$... well, that's what we call a no brainer.
