Valve: listening to PC gamers, frequent updates equal success

Ya... But now I don't have a HUGE collection of CD's and shit. It doesn't get scratched, broken, lost, etc..

I love Steam. You can install/uninstall as many times as you want. As long as you remember your Username and Pass.

For me its more about a trophy collection. On that shelf by my computer I have tons of titles all sitting in (often empty) cases.

And this is why Valve wins.

Because they realize that having 50% off sales means they actually make more money then keeping the price high.

They realize that having meaningful updates to a game means that it continues to survive and indeed flourish.

This is why I will buy pretty much anything Valve wants to sell me. Because I support and believe in their company philosophy.

Yeah. Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi are just about my favorite people in the gaming business these days, now that we haven't heard much from John Carmack in a while (last I heard was something about Quake Live, which I never got around to looking into.)

I also tend to support Blizzard Entertainment, and usually Bioware, too.

I think the only knock against Valve right now is how long it's taking them to get Episode Three done. Wasn't the "episode" concept supposed to be that they'd be shorter games that came out more frequently?
