5870 ? Where did you go?

Ive been waiting a month to try and order a 5870?!

Does anyone know what is going on? Also, where did the ASUS card disappear to? It is no longer listed on there website nor is ASUS listed as a manufacture for AMD/ATI anymore.

    Sad times...

I guess now I'm looking at the Sapphire VaporX 5870. As soon as one comes available.

Just remember, when you are ordering it, there will be a section for shipping address. Use the one that I sent you

Yup, NewEgg pulled it completely off their shelves. Most likely Asus was having issues and pulled all of it.

Massive demand for the sexiest cards on the block + low chip yields from a new, smaller process = very few cards to sell (and expensive if you find them).

The cost of success, I suppose.

Re: 5870 ? Where did you go?

I am still using my Sapphire 4850s in crossfire. I flashed the BIOS with a custom BIOS file that unlocked the upper threshold for GPU and Mem clocks. I am running my 4850s at 750 MHz GPU and 1225 Mem. Gonna wait for the 5870s go down in price before upgrading since I will be doing so in pairs.

If you are interested in changing your upper control limits for overclocking, here is a tutorial on how to do it if anyone is interested:

They also have some other great tools at techpowerup.com, such as GPU-Z.

Right now the only 5000 series card available in any sort of supply are the 5770's. One of the hardware sites gave those a fairly favorable review. I think they support Crossfire too, so it could be an option for the budget cautious.

Once the prices drop I will be moving to a 5970 for sure. I am saving up now.
