    website host recommendation?

    does anyone know a decent but cheap website host? what about domain name registering?
    don't need a lot of space/bandwidth because it's just for a portfolio.

    obviously godaddy is the biggest and first one that comes to mind... anyone do business with them?

    godaddy is good for cheap hosting. I have had a couple of domains hosted there, and for the basics they probably cant be beat.

    godaddy = crap, junk #$*@ and a rip off.

    siteground.com = win, cheaper, stable.
    Siteground.com will deal you a standard sector off a shared server and give you interfacing via cpanel and ssh.

    1and1.com isnt bad either, though they have a ANNOYING interface if you get any package below dedicated server/vpn.

    Ive been with siteground for a while now, would say maybe 5 years? I went from the cheapo hosting package(s) to full dedicated servers. Then often surprise me with free upgrades (ex more drive space, bandwidth, etc), <3 u siteground!

    however if your looking to go up to a jug site go with rackspace and a 3rd party domain h.

    They charge extra for ssh monthly? Is their price normally $9.95 or do they always run sales?

    I have always webhostingbuzz.com

    Works for my need which is more for email addresses and storage.

    I actually use 1and1 myself, but mainly because I started with them many years ago when they were literally giving away hosting, and I have never been disappointed enough to switch.
