    New sound card help

Im in need of a new sound card. This one is now 9 years old and works great but not not as great. Anybody got anything that i would be interested in? Im looking for an internal card, none of the fancy wireless external crap.

    Re: New sound card help

    how much?
Because you can spend anywhere from 25 or so through 200 for a card.

The Creative XtremeGamer X-FI cards are excellent and can be had for around 50bucks if you keep an eye out for rebates.
The Asus Xonar are good non-creative based cards if that floats your boat

    PCIe-x1 PCI

And what do you have right now, to help you make an upgrade from what you currently have.

    Re: New sound card help

depending on your OS and RAM amounts you might want to avoid Sound Blaster like the black plague as their drivers are atrocious for Vista (any flavor it gets worse in 64 bit with 4gb+ ram). The damn card caused me nothing short of a BSOD every 30min because of that card and its driver (and they were not even beta) Daniel K fixed their driver issues for a while but back in November he quite modding their drivers.

The creative cards themselves are nice but the driver pains are well enough to drive me to buy anything but creative on my new comp I'm building later this year.
