    windows 7 and connecting to a network

    Hey guys, for my pains i was recently called to setup a new out of the box compaq CQ5320F that was purchased for a relative... seemed to be an in and out task, the only hardware being switched was putting the wireless network adapater (linksys wmp110) from the old PC into the new one, everything installed fine, though I had to d/l the drivers (which microsoft claimed where compatible on microsoft.com and put them on a flash drive to copy them over) and it installed correctly... however the moment I try to connect to the network (after entering the password) the screen distorts into random graphics, static, etc and is totally frozen (have to reboot) doesn't do this at any other point... their service office isn't available so I'm wondering if anyone else might have an idea on this one?

    After a rather large search I've come to the conclusion that Netgear is the only major manufacturer that will admit to having wireless adapter cards in an easy to find fashion on their website compatible with windows 7 (even posting it on their website for certain models) Linksys has none that they will admit to (with live care) and you have to register on their knowledgebase account to see which products are supposedly compatible for windows 7 regardless.. d-link's website is a pain in the ass and I gave up searching for wireless adapaters there of the non-usb kind... wireless networking is at least per some places including toms hardware almost not meant to be in windows 7 :P

    I've got a Belkin USB adapter that works just fine under Windows 7. Downloaded the driver from Windows Update.

    I am using a Linksys WIreless G PCI adapter, thats how I connect my desktop to the internet...its how I game and do everything, I am running fine, not problems

    really? Hrmm would you gentlemen and anyone else watching mind posting your model #s for the associated wireless adapters? No retail location around me has anything in stock I think I'll have to buy something from ebay once I can get confirmation from trustworthy sources (ttp) that an item works with win7x64..heh
