Wow Hub, that current system of yours is not bad at all. How old is it? My current system is at least 5 years old and I am still running it. It just died on me the other day, but I don't have the money to build a whole new system yet. You're system kicks my old system's ass pretty hard, so I am surprised you are already building a new rig.

My old system:

Pentium 4 3.0 GHz HT CPU
ECS Mobo with 800 MHz FSB
2 GB 400 MHz PC3200 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512 MB
500W Antec PSU

I'm pricing out a new system that's around $1,000 right now on newegg, we'll see if I can get it soon.

Actually, the 17" monitor that I used from probably 1996-2006 (damn that lasted a long time) was 1280x1024. Many 32" TV's are "720p" (actually often 1366x768) though some are 1080p (which is pointless for TV viewing at such small scale, but for PC monitor would be essential).

1280x1024 = 1.3MP
1366x768 = 1MP
1280x720 = 0.9MP

So unless his TV is 1080p, he's losing pixels (and the pixels he's keeping are getting MUCH bigger which will make text look junky).

Ah, thanks. I have never really looked much into 720p resolution. The only time I have ever used it was when a 360 or PS3 game forces that resolution.

So a new monitor should still be something to think about Hub, but would say give the TV a try.

I don't know much about monitors but I bought this monitor ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001311 ) .... And running the 120 hertz makes it so much easier to see through smokes in CS and also you see stuff faster it seems like... maybe its just me but the monitor just reacts so much faster than my 75 hertz monitor....

Thats what I look at on monitors, is the hertz... probably not the right thing to be looking at

Im not to good with comps either LOL!

By FAR the best monitor I have ever had though..
