Re: omg my shit blew up today
Just had my Mobo die on me last week, and just got done replacing it last night. I've had a total of 3 mobo's die on me in the course of the last 10 years that I have been building PC's. Usually when it's the MOBO, nothing comes on at all, which is why a lot of people first suspect it's they're PSU. But like someone else suggested a nice little tool to have is a PSU tester, I picked mine up for $35 from Bestbuy, but it has an LCD instead of just green or red LED lights.
If it's not the PSU, and the nothing comes on, it's the MOBO. But if your fans are coming on and you're getting some kind of boot, I would suspect it's something else and that your MOBO is properly fine. Sometimes a fried Graphics card will cause it not to boot, but will also not give the three beeps to indicate a bad graphics card. Definitely check all cables and the memory modules.
