what do y'all recommend? I'm happy with my Fantom 1 Tb drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822204079
Or rather, was happy, it dropped to the floor when someone else was borrowing it and it appears to have broken the connector that attaches the drive to the interface board. This drive has 340 comments and strong over all user opinions. The person wants to replace mine as well as purchase one for himself. The drive itself is now in my PC as a 1 TB internal drive.
The 2 Tb drives from the same company aren't faring as well as I read through the comments.
So.... what do y'all use. I'd prefer to keep the eSata & USB option just because I REAAAAAALLY like the eSata option since my desktop, laptop and work PC all have eSata available to me.

Re: RFC: Portable 2 TB drives
Personally, I tend to stick with the more major players in the HDD market. The usual suspects that those in the business already know. Mainly since I think their QC is a bit tighter than some of the smaller companies out there. I've not owned a Phantom product yet so I can't speak to their quality process.

actually, its a WD drive internally
and the solid steel was good as long as it was riding in my backpack, but being dropped to the floor, the steel couldn't stop the shock damage.
fanless kept things quiet since noise irritates the living crap out of me

Re: RFC: Portable 2 TB drives
I use WD externals at work and home and I love them. I stick to the lower capacities at work though since I don't want to have to carry a power cord around. At home I have a 500GB attached to my router that is shared to the home network.
Based on the reviews for the one you posted I would be willing to take a chance on it.
