TechSpot Reviews the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480

The GeForce GTX 480 is indeed a very fast product, and as the drivers have time to mature it's likely to become even faster. I'm going to reserve my opinion on whether this card is a good buy until it hit shelves to review the pricing.

    What a cop out.
Unless they are quite a bit less than their MSRP and end up gaining quite a bit of performance from drivers they are shit.

The cards slightly faster than the 5870, uses quite a bit more power, and costs more dollar bills, and the 470 is even worse, getting bested by the 5850 pretty much straight across the board...

The heat generated by these cards is also an issue; I'd expect reliability to suffer in the long run. Not to mention the fan noise (and, apparently, vibration):
All that power makes for one seriously hot graphics card as well. The 97 degree load temperature was the maximum temperate that we recorded during our tests, and had the fan spinning so fast things started sliding across my desk towards the test system. The GeForce GTX 480 was truly deafening when running at full load.

Fermi is the newest version of the old Geforce 5XXX series. It looks good but really its shit. Lets just hope we don't see the same thing happen with the generation of cards after that where ATI bit the bullet hard and Nvidia raped them with the 6800 series.
