and what exactly i thought the levels where ddr2 ddr3 ddr4 ddr5 i didn't know there where specific levels within them, what's the difference between tri and dual channel (other than the fact that just by the sound of it tri channel is faster)

Now days most users have 3gb of ram or more so might as well go with 64.

    Re: 32 or 64?

In PC's DDR3 is the limit right now. There are people still rocken the DDR2 RAM but it is getting to be old news.

The primary benefit of DDR3 is the ability to transfer at twice the data rate of DDR2.

    *DDR2 gives a maximum transfer rate of 3200 MB/s. DDR3 SDRAM gives a maximum transfer rate of 6400 MB/s.
*Tri-channel memory overcomes the bandwidth limitations of individual memory modules by combining the bandwidth of three sticks at a time.

With the motherboard you posted you are getting the i7 processor, right? If so that chip was made for DDR3 tri channel and 64bit OS's. If anything lower you would be bottle necking your rig. But that's my opinion.

Here is a good artical from Tom's Hardware. It shows the ins and outs of i7 and DDR3....

    Re: 32 or 64?

Also, 64 bit programs (those that will only run on a 64 bit machine with a 64 bit OS) are generally "faster" because larger chunks of data can be worked with at one time (it gets quite a bit more technical than that, but that is the short of it). Although most programs are still 32 bit only, eventually they will all be 64 bit. I doubt that it will be long before we start seeing games and software packaged like WIndows OS with a 32 and 64 bit version in the same package. Plus, the 64 bit Win 7 is very stable.

    So in the end:
More memory, faster programs (potentially), future ready. No reason to do 32 bit anymore.

    Times are a changin'!
