You need another option in your poll, Bunni: "dozens."

I have loads of them, but not one for every website. And I use LastPass to manage the important ones.

i wouldnt say my PWs are the same, but the all share common traits.

IE:

all my CC site actions require phone or email auth. my CC can varify over the phone with a # PW. takes about 5 seconds.

only 5 to 6 (personal, for school and business I have access to many other PW's that I do not consider "mine" but I must use).

How different are they?

Well I make random combinations that include lower and upper case letters, numbers, and symbols.

I discovered that long, complex and obscure math formulae, presented as you would type them into a calculator can work pretty well.

I use KeePass Portable to keep up with all my damn passwords. Work, TTP, was school, many personal sites, etc. I think I have 80 entries in my password file all told.

This. Store all the important ones in KeePass, then some lesser ones that go to stuff that i don't use very often.
